Please help if you can! We will be accepting donations until Monday morning. **Our contact is no longer accepting clothes, but can use coats. Another major need is camping type supplies: kerosene lanterns, batteries, flashlights, portable generators, etc.

The second grade students have been studying properties of materials. Last week, each student made a boat using only notebook paper and masking tape. The goal was to see how many pennies their boat could hold before sinking. It was a close race, but Maggie's boat held the most at 132 pennies. Today we talked about what made Maggie's boat better and how we could make an even better boat. The students decided that we needed it to be thicker and more water resistant. Therefore, each student colored a sheet of paper front and back with crayons since crayons are made of wax and wax repels water. Then they put their pieces together and used A LOT of masking tape! We used every penny we had (206) and our new and better boat held those pennies for an hour and a half before sinking! Great job second grade!
